American Cargo Group (ACG) was established in 2018 with the Wells Cargo, Haulmark, and UltraLav brands. American Hauler was added to the ACG family in early 2019.
When ACG acquired these brands, the historical records transferred from previous ownership varied significantly by brand and model year. Some older records were incomplete, and certain records were permanently lost before ACG acquired the brands.
The information below explains what historical trailer information is generally available and what customers can expect when requesting parts or information for an older trailer.
Wells Cargo & UltraLav
Approximately 1998–2009/2010
ACG has historical records for most trailers built during this period, including information such as:
- Trailer model
- Original dealer
- Invoice information
- Limited Bill of Material (BOM) information
The available BOM information varies by trailer but may include component information such as axle part numbers, tires, and other major components.
Although complete build information is not always available, we can generally identify the parts needed for Wells Cargo and UltraLav trailers from this period. Older units may require additional research, measurements, photographs, or other information from the customer, so identifying the correct part may take additional time.
Approximately 2010–2013 — Limited or No Records
Wells Cargo and UltraLav were previously owned by Universal Trailer Corporation. A server failure under previous ownership resulted in the permanent loss of a significant amount of historical data.
As a result, order details and build information are generally unavailable for trailers produced approximately between 2010 and early 2013.
Our Parts team may still be able to identify components based on the VIN, model, photographs, measurements, component manufacturer information, or other details provided by the customer.
Early 2013–Present
Beginning in approximately early 2013, full order details and Bill of Material (BOM) information are generally available for Wells Cargo and UltraLav trailers.
Haulmark
Approximately 2005–2009/2010
ACG has limited historical information for Haulmark trailers from this period. Available records generally contain basic trailer information such as:
- Trailer model
- Trailer weight
- Other limited unit information
Detailed order information and complete BOM information are generally not available for these units.
However, we can generally identify the parts needed for Haulmark trailers from this period. Depending on the component, this may require additional research and information from the customer, such as photographs, measurements, manufacturer labels, or component part numbers.
Approximately 2010–2013 — Limited or No Records
Haulmark was also previously owned by Universal Trailer Corporation and was affected by the same unrecoverable server failure.
As a result, order details and build information are generally unavailable for Haulmark trailers produced approximately between 2010 and early 2013.
Despite the lack of complete historical records, we can generally identify the parts needed for these trailers. Parts identification may require photographs, measurements, component information, and additional research, so the process may take longer than it would for a trailer with complete build records.
Early 2013–Present
Beginning in approximately early 2013, full order details and Bill of Material (BOM) information are generally available for Haulmark trailers.
American Hauler
American Cargo Group acquired the American Hauler brand in early 2019.
Historical records from previous American Hauler ownership are significantly more limited than those available for the other ACG brands. Previous ownership maintained limited electronic records, and an unrecoverable server failure also resulted in the loss of historical information.
As a result, order details and Bill of Material information for American Hauler trailers built prior to ACG's acquisition in 2019 are generally not readily available.
Our Parts team will make every reasonable effort to research these units and identify the correct components. This process may require:
- Detailed photographs of the trailer and existing component
- Component labels, manufacturer names, or part numbers
- Measurements
- Axle or other component serial numbers
- Additional information about the trailer and its configuration
Because of the limited historical records, researching pre-2019 American Hauler trailers can take additional time, and in some cases the original component or part number may not be identifiable.
Availability of Legacy Parts
Having historical information about a trailer does not necessarily mean the original part is still available.
Many components used on older trailers have been discontinued or changed over the years by ACG, previous brand ownership, or outside component manufacturers and suppliers.
When an original component is no longer available, ACG will make every reasonable effort to identify a current replacement or alternative part with the same or similar application.
However, replacement components may differ from the original in appearance, dimensions, mounting locations, connections, or other details. Installation of an alternate component may require modifications to the trailer and may not provide an exact cosmetic or dimensional match to the original part.
Helping Us Identify Parts for an Older Trailer
When contacting ACG Parts about an older trailer, providing as much information as possible can significantly improve our ability to identify the correct component.
Whenever possible, please provide the complete VIN, along with clear photographs of the trailer and the part being replaced. Measurements, manufacturer labels, stamped numbers, axle serial numbers, and any numbers found directly on the existing component can also be extremely helpful.
Our goal is to provide the best available solution for your trailer, even when the original build records or components are no longer available.
